THE MUSCLES ARE SPENT
Today I initiated my weightlifting routine/protein diet program again that school, this past quarter, had taken away from me. Three whole months off my program after spending 6 months getting to a point where I was comfortable with what I had done with my body and proud. Part of me resents school for taking away the results I had so diligently worked towards achieving.
But you know. I am not giving up that easy. Given the time lapse, I started things today by spending 10-15 minutes stretching. I then went into 25 minutes of cardio on the elliptical. I was sweating bullets but not 'panting' to hard after the workout. Then it was on to the weights. I worked my upper body ~ chest and arms. I also slipped in some sit-ups because as BrettCajun says, 'the ponch was starting to show a tad.' See Brett and I share Taco Bell stories. I'm a #3, #8, or #9 usually. But unlike that crazy Cajun who loves to pilfer said establishment daily (hehehe! - JK'ing bud!), I only did Taco Bell once a week during the last school quarter on Thursdays, my full day at school from 9am to 9pm.

Just two hours later and I can feel the chest muscles tightening and feeling a bit sore. All that prior hard work....sheeze! So I am shooting to look like this picture from 4 months ago...
I am not too far off though, fortunately. BrettCajun eat your heart out! Who says you can't look great at 46!!

I can totally relate to the whole study messing with, workouts and food. (oh and the age thing too). I find my full day can lead to dropping into any available burger place,(mind you I dont finish until 8.30pm, so I really dont feel like cooking healthy), and workouts, Hah!! doing those regularly is near impossible, with assignments etc. I'm getting too old for all this ;)
Tony-- First, thanks for your kind note on my blog.
But Tony, are you really sure that working out doesn't lower the libido? That is doesn't dissipate sexual tension? That's what an ex partner told me after he had started working out (and hence became an ex-- not just for that reason!)
Actually, this position has a long history behind it. Ovid's "Ars Amatoria," perhaps the world first sex manual, reccommends that those in search of a lover should shun the "bronzed athlete" in favor of the serious student. On the other hand, Ovid was more of a serious student than a bronzed athlete himself.
Best wishes.
I think working out does increase libido...it has for me... or maybe it is just giving the confidence to get naked...either way... more sex...hehehe good luck with the working out... it seems many bloggers are fighting this fight...
Sexy Back!
GOod for you!
You've inspired me to get in shape as well.
go low and slow and be patient, and don't ralph your back.
Going to get a hot personal trainer?
I wish I had the energy, drive and the body - you are going to have to deal with sweet and flabby when you get here...
Well Spidie...
I'll just have to whip that body into shape when I get there. You ready for this "personal trainer?!" Drop and give me twenty! ;-P Did I just say that. I am going to be hurting!
Tony-- Just this evening spoke to a friend who goes regularly to the gym. He confirmed what you say. Working out helps, not dimimishes the libido. I guess Ovid must have been a bit self interested in taking down the athletes.
My friend was really quite adamant on the topic; he said that working out diminishes the tension the BLOCKS sexual excitement. In short, according to him, not only do you look sexier, you are, in fact, sexier.
But working out gets you all hot and sweaty...(On second thought, maybe that's not such a bad thing...)
It does increase the libido, and I'm willing to take on participants in a medical study to prove it! Heheheheheh
Great post, Tony - and I will make my decision by Monday on Florida.
I would love to go - but I don't know if I can.
:)
Baby got back!?
Wow... your arms and back muscle are (were) impressive! Get back to that shape! I am strill recovering from Taco Bell last week. My pudgey belly is always a worrisome trouble spot.
O my goodness, Tony!
I took a closer peek at your picture.
Woof!
