HOW DO YOU LIKE IT? (#23)

Another Tuesday is here and with it comes another How Do You Like It? question. Of course we all know that today is Halloween. In staying with the festivities of the moment, my question to you all today is:

How do you like to spend your Halloween? I am not posing any answers because I want to hear your truthful responses which I know will vastly vary.

For me...I personally do not get into this particular celebration. Just being honest. I would rather, and typically do, spend Halloween evening running around with the nieces and nephews, laughing all the way as they remind me of what I used to do as a child on this 'scary' evening.

And you?

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

In our community, trick or treating usually does not occur on the holiday itself (government edict), so 31. Oct is usually just another night.

For trick or treat we usually sit outside on lawn chairs (bundled up like Eskimos) and hand out the treats.

Halloween may be a wash out this evening here. It's supposed to rain and turn colder.

I'm planning to spend my evening with my lover playing "prick or treat"...

I enjoy seeing the little ones come to the door in their costumes - all happy and having fun! I get some really special trick or treaters every year - the Coalition for the Homeless dresses up the little guys who are living there in costume and bring them down to my end of Central and they go Trick or Treating with their case managers... GOD they are so cute, and SO EXCITED... they always make my night!

the actual hallowe'en night is for the children.
We have a block party for the kids to visit all the houses at one time.
After trick o treating is over, I make Someone the annual Hallowe'en dinner of BBQ flank steak and wine.
By then the 'season' has left me beat and I am ready for bed.
AFter all tomorrow is a Mass morning.

A evening spent listening to the doorbell ring, bags of candy, most for the trick-or-treaters and I can not tell a lie, some for me too, makes for a enjoyable Halloween evening. Happy Halloween!

We feed sugar to the troup of kids that wander through. Actually, Chris hands out the candy, and I eat one piece for every one he gives out. Kidding! Really, I'm kidding.

I've always loved Halloween, especially haunted houses. My brother was 12 years younger than me, so I went trick or treating till I was old, cause they always got me to take my sisters and brother trick or treating. I enjoy it on the weekend, I wish I was home with my neice and nephews.

I sometimes like to get dressed up and go to work. And I always hit a few haunted houses during the season, but they get too crowded the week of Halloween. This year I am going to do nothing. I am not even answering the door! Humbug!

I am spending it watching scary movies and ignoring the door if any kids call around.

I wouldn't mind kids knocking on the door, but there's none that come through our neighbourhood so it's blessedly quiet. That, and it's bitter cold right now, cold snap coming down out of Canada and the Gulf of Alaska. Brrrrr!

Being the (semi) good Pagan that I am, for Samhain I do a quick little ritual of thanks for the past year, forgive past transgressions, let go of old fears, say "Thank You" to the loved ones who've passed away, seal the house against negative influences, and generally try to start with a cleaner slate come sunrise.

After all that's done (usually by myself when I'm alone) then it's a nice hearty dinner with the Bf and a warm snuggle on the sofa by the glow of the boob tube. He doesn't watch horror/suspense films or else I'd be having a marathon movie night as well ;-)

Years ago - I used to go all out and dress up and hit the gay bars. It's practically a gay holiday. Nowadays - it's just like any other day. For a while I'd buy lots of candy and hand it out to the kids knocking on the door. Now I lust leave a big bowl at the door - and leave the lights dim; hoping know one comes a knocking. LOL

I like to pass out candy early in the evening and then spend time with some friends later in the evening either at a party or hanging out at the local bar, last night was the bar, The Bullet, which I live around the corner from, I had a great time, even if I do have a bit of a hangover today... ouch

I'm similar to you Tony, except I think more about the night before Halloween night in my hometown, which was known as mischief night. When I think about it now, I wonder if any other town did this sort of thing. Gang's of kids from the neighborhood would wander out when it got dark and TP the tree's in someone's yard or throw eggs...or do various other pranks. There was another thing they'd do...which I think I will not post here as to not give any ideas but it was a sad situation for the person who answered the door and stomped the little fire out, I'll just say that part. I like to remember some of the cool costumes that Mom came up with for us and my Brother who dressed up as a Candy Computer, long before computers where so commonplace. I'm probably missing the point in some respects as an adult, but I find it hard to present myself as a character in costume.
